My Name is Michael J. Trim Jr., a Senior Broadcast Journalism student at Florida A&M University with a passion for storytelling, sports, and impactful communication. Set to graduate in May 2026, I’ve built my experience around one core goal; telling stories that inform, connect, and inspire.

My journey in journalism has been hands-on from the start. As a reporter for FAMU TV-20, I’ve developed and delivered both scripted and unscripted sports segments, learning how to perform under pressure while maintaining strong editorial judgment. At The FAMUAN, I’ve covered athletics and campus news as a staff writer and editor interviewing athletes, coaches, and administrators to bring meaningful, well-rounded stories to the community.

Beyond reporting, I’ve expanded my skills into digital media and strategic communication. As a Strategic Communication Intern with the Florida Division of Emergency Management, I helped craft messaging during critical moments, ensuring the public received clear, accurate information. I also produced digital content and analyzed audience engagement to improve communication strategies across the state. My passion for sports and media comes together through my experience managing social media for an Orlando Magic-affiliated account. There, I created daily content, designed graphics, and helped grow audience engagement combining creativity with analytics to build a strong digital presence. Leadership has been a key part of my development as well.

I serve as the 1st Vice President of the Society of Professional Journalists at FAMU, Assistant Sports Director at WANM 90.5, and Public Relations Coordinator for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. These roles have strengthened my ability to lead teams, manage content, and represent organizations with professionalism and purpose. With skills in Adobe Creative Suite, social media strategy, and on-air reporting, I’m constantly working to grow as a multimedia journalist.
